FIDM's "Little Black Dress" Exhibit

The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise (FIDM) is inviting the public to a free exhibit on the fiftieth anniversary of the debut of Audrey Hepburn's iconic little black dress in the classic film Breakfast at Tiffany's. The LBDs on display will invite visitors to explore the role and re-invention of this wardrobe staple throughout fashion, films, and pop culture. Running through August 13th, 10am to 3pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays.

I Scream, You scream movie

Virginia VandenBerg-Mike Switzer are trying to make a really fun, action filled short movie this semester and we need funds! Virginia VandenBerg is one of the costumers, along with Brandi Borchard and Lauren Mauter (all Saddleback Fashion students).

Please take a few minutes and check out the Kickstarter page we set up to raise money. If you're unfamiliar with Kickstarter, it's a great website for artists of all types to try to get funding for their projects.

Virginia VandenBerg - On the Shoulders of Giants


Fashion Student Virginia VandenBerg worked on costumes for a short independent film over summer called "On the Shoulders of Giants". They just wrapped the Friday before school and it will be screened in October. Jerry Fredrickson Copyright 2010, is the director and is planning on submitting it to Sundance, so best of luck! Fashion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Costume Design in Film: Reflecting the Period Beginning Friday, May 21, with a screening of The Picture of Dorian Gray, this film series will showcase the work of some of Hollywood's finest wardrobe masters and mistresses. Tickets are $10 for individual screenings and $42 for the series.

"Quest" Costumes - Newport Film Festival


The Saddleback film "Quest" that fashion student Kelly Erbstoesser worked on costumes for will be in the Newport Film Festival 2010. Join reVamp and Costume Designer Chrisi Karvonides-Dushenko (Big Love, Carnivale) at a Champagne Reception in the reVamp Salon on Friday, January 29 from 7-10pm. On display will be costumes from the newly released film, "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond" as well as Chrisi's design sketches and photographic stills from the film starring Bryce Dallas Howard. Now is your chance to discuss with Chrisi about her experience working on period films and television shows such as HBO's "Carnivale", as well as contemporarily set shows like HBO's "Big Love". THE LOSS OF A TEARDROP DIAMOND, 2009, Paladin, 102 min. Dir. Jodie Markell. This new drama based on a recently rediscovered original screenplay by Tennessee Williams is set in the Roaring Twenties and tells the story of Fisher Willow (Bryce Dallas Howard) a headstrong young southern heiress who rebels by asking the impoverished but handsome Jimmy Dobyne (Chris Evans) to escort her to the major social events of the season. The relationship is purely a business arrangement, with Fisher paying for Jimmy's time and attention, but when she discovers she really loves him, she finds it impossible to earn the affection she tried to buy. Also starring Ellen Burstyn, Ann-Margret and Will Patton.
