Basic Flats Class on ILLUSTRATOR

Learn to draw flats in Adobe Illustrator in 8 hours!
The first session is Tuesday, January 19th, and the second is the following Tuesday, January the 26th.
1st Session: (JANUARY 19)
* User interface and toolset * Image basics * Basic keyboard commands * Shape drawing * Pen tool intro * Drawing different line types
2nd Session: (JANUARY 26)
* Importing scans and tracing them * Creating and applying different stitch patterns * Using fills * Layer management * Using text * Exporting to .jpg and .pdf
This is a hands on class! We will use exercises/tutorials as a vehicle for learning the program.
Our workstations have Illustrator CS3 on them, but we encourage you to work from your own laptop if you have the software, (Adobe Illustrator, version 8 to CS4 are acceptable).
Everyone is guaranteed to take the knowledge home with them as work-books with step by step screen captures will be provided as well as CD-ROM's containing all supporting files for you to keep!

Illustrator Accessories

No lengthy boring demonstrations! Learn the software by using it!
This hands-on workshop is four hours.
Learn the basics of vector drawing. In this work shop we will combine the use of shapes and the pen tool to create a library of fashion accessories such as belts, buckles, buttons, shoes and other embellishments.
Outline:
Brief review of Illustrator's user interface and toolset Shape drawing Pen tool intro 3D shapes Saving the 'Library' Additional resources Q&A
A step by step work book with screen captures will be provided for you to take home with you, so you can spend the workshop using Illustrator instead of taking notes. We will also provide a CD-ROM to burn your files to disc so you can take them home with you as well.
We provide work stations (computers), but encourage you to bring your own laptop if you have Illustrator installed on it. You will not need the most current version, but should have at least Illustrator CS (version 11) installed to do all the exercises. Earlier versions do not support the 3D features, but will allow you to do the other exercises.

Photoshop for Textiles
THURSDAY, Jan 28, Feb 4 2pm - 6pm
Beginners are welcome!
This course requires a basic computer knowledge, (right-click, folder creation, etc... )
The course is broken up into 2 four hour sessions. January 28 and February 4.
Session 1:
A brief review of Photoshop's user interface and tool set
Image basics (Vector vs Raster) Creating our first pattern Complicating the first pattern Offsetting the first pattern, (creating a 'half drop') re-coloring the first pattern
Session 2:
Spot colors (Pantones) Filters and effects Gradients Trapping and other print issues Additional resources Looking ahead (expanding our skill-set) - Step by step work books with screen captures of each step are provided along with CD-ROM's containing all supporting files. This workbook and disc are the students to keep!

This is a hands-on workshop!
In this workshop we will create an invoice from scratch using Microsoft Excel.
Step by step workbooks with screen captures will help us follow along with the instructor as we create a custom invoice with formatting and formulas so that we have a working document at the close of the workshop!
The workbooks are yours to keep! We will also provide a CD-ROM so that you can burn your files to disc and take them with you also! We will provide instruction for this too!

Finding the Right Salesperson!
Saturday, January 23 9am - 1pm
In order to find the right Salesperson it is critical to develop a Sales Plan which outlines your company's. This class will take you through the process, step-by-step. You will understand what position you are in in the marketplace. You will also identify a strategy for your business to target.
You will also be able to determine whether or not your company's message to the retail community is best served by having an "in house" Salesperson, or Independent Salespersons.
You will also know how to set up Contracts for your Salesperson, and much much more!
