Fashion 'a La Mode Event

Saddleback College's Fashion and Culinary Department presents Fashion 'a La Mode: Fashion and Culinary Industry Workshops and Runway Competition. The event will take place on March 11th, 2011.

Mission Viejo, CA. On Friday March 11th, Saddleback College Fashion and Culinary departments will be hosting "Fashion 'A La Mode", an event for all interested Orange County High School students to check out the career fields of fashion and food. The event will last from 11am to 7:30pm and will include 3 one hour workshops that High School students can sign up to take. They will also be able to participate in group contests, enjoy ice-cream sundaes and a enter their apparel designs into a fashion show. Workshops will be held in the BGS building and Village (for Culinary) from 12:00pm to 3:30pm and will include pizza-,making, sewing, fashion illustration, fashion forecasting, fashion styling, and more.

Students may enter in Individual contests to be judged and shown prior to the event. See "Contest Rules" packet or e-mail Malia at mhill30@saddleback.edu for details. Students will also have a chance to participate in group contests on March 11th.

Judging: Entered work will be judged by Industry Professionals and Saddleback College Fashion Faculty based on 1) creativity/originality, 2) craftsmanship, and 3) appropriateness to category and following instructions.
Eligibility: Eligible students must currently attend a High School in Orange County during the 2010/2011 academic year. All work must be original work by contestant only. Team projects may not be entered for individual contests. Student may enter multiple categories and submit more than one entry per category. Each entry must have the Entry Form attached that includes student’s name, teacher, school, grade, address, phone, e-mail, and category entered. If project entered is a sewing project it must note whether it was made from a pattern or original design. If the project entered is a recipe, form must include recipe, directions and citation of source of recipe (unless original recipe by student). Entries that do not adhere to guidelines given will not be judged.

High School Entries: It is suggested that each High School submits all their entries at one time. Students may ask their ROP or High School Fashion and/or Culinary teacher if their school is participating in this event and submit projects to their teacher or submit on their own.
Price: Tickets will be sold on Brown Paper Ticket: www.brownpapertickets.com/event/140340 for $10 plus $1.99 processing fee. $10 deposit will be returned at the door with printed ticket or student ID. High School Teachers taking classes may elect to collect $10 from their students prior to event and give students their deposit back once they arrive at the event. Students will also need to fill out forms HERE and return by March 1st.
