These exhibitors bring you the very best of vintage clothes; couture designer items; accessories like purses, hats, gloves, and shoes; and fantastic selections of jewelry. They search this country and abroad - estate sales, auctions, bazaars, and, yes, other shows - with their treasure-hunting activities. You benefit from the vintage fashion and treasure-hunting obsessions of these wonderful dealers and their subsequent cleaning and restoring skills.

Not only is the Vintage Fashion Expo a great shopping opportunity but it also is a wonderful trip into history. Touring this show brings back many memories of yesteryear and offers many enjoyable moments.

The Libraries fall exhibit, Putting on the Glitz: Hollywood’s Influence on Fashion, examines the major influence Hollywood had and continues to have over fashion.

In the early 1930s, European designers realized that a dramatic shift had occurred in the fashion industry. Paris was no longer the fashion capital of the world. With eighty-five million movie tickets being purchased each week, Hollywood had become a potent force, with the ability to reach almost all social classes and spread new fashions quickly. Movies had glamorous stars, huge budgets, and innovative designers all geared toward marketing and selling a trend.
The Libraries exciting new visual exhibit will highlight films and designers from Hollywood’s golden years through the 20th century, all presented within a historical context. The scope of the exhibit demonstrates how the entertainment industry dictates trends and ideologies and acts as a socializing force. Items presented include books, magazines and newspaper articles, images, videos, and movie posters from the Libraries’ collections, and exciting costumes on display from UCI’s drama department. Becky Imamoto, Research Librarian for History, is the curator.

The opening night event will feature a talk by Lynn Mally, UCI Professor of History, followed by a reception and exhibit viewing. Professor Mally teaches classes and gives lectures on fashion history at UCI and in the community. The event is free and open to the public.

The Vintage Clothing & Textile Show in it’s 26th year, features 65 exhibitors selling and displaying a wide selection of antique textiles, vintage clothing and much more! Beyond the high fashion vintage and gently worn designer clothing, you will find an extensive array of other material from nostalgic eras including vintage table linens, bed linens, Victorian lace, draperies and cushions, a variety of wearable decorative trims, perfume bottles, jewelry boxes, buttons, shoes, handbags, jewelry, shawls, ethnic textiles and the list goes on.

The show has attracted a very loyal and enthusiastic following. In recent shows, designer resale has been a noticeably strong trend. Participating dealers are known to save their best and most unusual items for this event and their audience knows it. There is always something for everyone, from the most discerning collector to the college student on a limited budget!

Model Call - Stop Staring Fashion Show

Fashion students Cheri Wilson, Lindsey McCormick, and Brandi Borchard are involved in working on a show April 24th featuring Stop Staring, Scarlet Lady and Bonsoir, Bella. Cheri Wilson is making corsets for the show. Lindsey McCormick, a former fashion student is the stylist. Brandi Borchard is the designer of Bonsoir, Bella and has 2 swimsuits (a bikini and a one piece) as well as a wrap featured in the show.

The Fashion Show needs models. They need girls with measuresments of 36-25-36 or somewhere close to those measurements. Anyone interested should contact Susan Skinner at 760-419-0262.

ReVamp Pin-up Show

30 Years of Pin-up Fashion Show: 1927-1957 Sunday, January 24th 5pm

Please join Annamarie von Firley, the Vice-President of the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles as she Produces and Hosts a lovely evening of vintage fashion at the glorious Art Deco Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, California. There will be a cocktail reception from 5:00 pm to 6:00pm and the fashion show starts at 6:00 pm. This fashion show features 80 provocative vintage silhouettes and showcases eight of the most famous pin-up artists from the 20s-50s illustrating each section: Lingerie, Bathing Suits, Playsuits, Day dresses, Formal Afternoon, Cocktail Dresses and Evening Gowns. Join reVamp and Costume Designer Chrisi Karvonides-Dushenko (Big Love, Carnivale) at a Champagne Reception in the reVamp Salon on Friday, January 29 from 7-10pm. On display will be costumes from the newly released film, "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond" as well as Chrisi's design sketches and photographic stills from the film starring Bryce Dallas Howard. Some costumes will be modeled by live mannequins. Now is your chance to discuss with Chrisi about her experience working on period films and television shows such as HBO's "Carnivale", as well as contemporarily set shows like HBO's "Big Love". reVamp on the Stage and Screen

On December 30, 2009, The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, a heretofore un-produced Tennessee Williams screenplay starring Bryce Dallas Howard, opened in theatres. reVamp fabricated around 60 costumes for this period film set in the Roaring 20s. reVamp is excited to announce that we constructed costumes for Miss Yvonne for a stage production of The Pee-Wee Herman Show which will premiere at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, January 2010.

Also presenting Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-Phonis, and Vicky Tafloya... well known with large followers of hipsters of all ages of the Swing, rockabilly, surf, jazz, bop, Doo Wop, retro rock and Roll genres. Sneak Preview: THE LOSS OF A TEARDROP DIAMOND, 2009, Paladin, 102 min. Dir. Jodie Markell. This new drama based on a recently rediscovered original screenplay by Tennessee Williams is set in the Roaring Twenties and tells the story of Fisher Willow (Bryce Dallas Howard) a headstrong young southern heiress who rebels by asking the impoverished but handsome Jimmy Dobyne (Chris Evans) to escort her to the major social events of the season. The relationship is purely a business arrangement, with Fisher paying for Jimmy's time and attention, but when she discovers she really loves him, she finds it impossible to earn the affection she tried to buy. Also starring Ellen Burstyn, Ann-Margret and Will Patton. Discussion following with director Jodie Markell, costume designer Chrissi Karvonides Dushenko and actor Bryce Dallas Howard.
