ITAA Design Call

2010 ITAA Design Call Now Available Online!

The call for designs is now available at ITAA's website at the following page: http://www.itaaonline.org/template.asp?intPageId=279. The due date for submission is June 1. Starting this year, only members can submit designs. The undergraduate membership fee is $35.00 and details regarding guidelines for membership will be available after ITAA Council’s spring meeting in early March.

________________________________

Award Update for Undergraduate Students

Peter Carman from Paris American Academy has updated his undergraduate design award. Instead of sponsoring a student to participate in PAA’s 4-week summer course, Peter is sponsoring an undergraduate student to attend PAA for an entire semester, this could be as early as January 2011. The only difference from the regular submission is that the inspiration and concept for the design must be derived from the conference theme, which is Building Alliances for the 2010 meeting. This is an excellent opportunity for your students, so please encourage them to participate. The requirements include:

  • Ability to study in Paris at PAA for an entire semester, either pre or post graduation
  • Designing a garment with the conference’s theme as the design inspiration and concept. For 2010, that is Building Alliances
  • Be sure to describe the concept and its development within the Design Submission statement (File1.pdf)
  • Enter the design through the regular submission process
  • During the submission process, indicate that you are eligible for this award. There is a window that will prompt you for this information.
  • Be creative!

It has come to our attention that some of our members may have been waiting for an email stating that the calls for workshops and special topics were available online, so were taken aback when they received the reminder notice saying that the due date for special topics and workshops is February 1. In the interest of making sure that all of our members have an opportunity to submit quality proposals, the deadline for submission of Special Topics and Workshops has been extended to February 15th. Go to http://www.itaaonline.org/template.asp?intPageId=279 for more details. Please note, the submission information has changed slightly; rather than uploading to the submission site, you will need to email the completed files to VP_Scholarship@itaaonline.org, with a copy to maryanne@itaaonline.org.
